Vacancy for Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer
Drakes Broughton and Wadborough with Pirton Parish Council seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, well organised individual with good administrative and IT skills to become our Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer. The successful candidate will be working with a supportive and enthusiastic council to help make a positive impact across our two parishes
Responsibilities include:
• Preparing agendas for, and taking minutes at, the monthly Parish Council meetings
• Preparing and overseeing a budget, maintaining accounts, preparing financial reports, and processing PAYE
• Management of the Lengthsman
• Liaising with Parish, District and County Councillors, external organisations, contractors and the local community
• Dealing with correspondence (emails) and voice messages
• Implementing decisions made by the Council
• Working with councillors to maintain the website
The position is for 9 hours per week, to be completed on 2 or 3 days during the week. You will be mostly working from home and you will be required to attend the monthly Parish Council meetings that take place in Drakes Broughton on the first Thursday evening of each month.
The Clerks role also involves ensuring the Parish Council follow procedures and acts within its powers. A background in Local Government is useful but full training will be available to the successful candidate.
