This training session is essential for clerk’s new in post. It will provide an overview of your role as a professional clerk and Responsible Financial Officer. The session will cover an introduction to local council administration, the various meetings, differing roles of clerk, chair and councillors. Plus agenda, minutes, code of conduct, standing orders, financial regulations, legal powers and the internal and audit process

Councillor training – follows the flying start course.  It is for all councillors and a good refresher for councillors that haven’t attended for training for some time.

  • WALC / NALC membership benefits and services offered
  • Engaging and making a difference in the community
  • Parish and Town council procedures and law
  • Powers and duties
  • Governance
  • Council meetings
  • Roles and responsibilities of council and staff
  • Precept, budgets, council tax and audit
