Communications, interaction with residents via social media, websites, notice boards, annual assembly, newletters, meetings. Events Planning & project management. Strategic planning, neighbourhood plans, development planning, where the parish council sits in the framework, material & non-material considerations, examples of best practice.

For those intending to complete the CiLCA qualification

this session is particularly relevant to LO's: 2, 21, 24, 26, 27,28 + LO's: 12, 13, 25, 26, 29

"Off To A Flying Start"

Aimed at newly elected Councillors, or those who have not previously attended training, and newly appointed Clerks and Council Officers, this course will give an overview of what a Parish Council is, its statutory duties and powers.

Registration will be required to attend and will open prior to the election date in May.

Clerks Toolkit 6 Risk Management and internal controls

Ensuring the correct systems are in place to safeguard public money. Reminder of the code of conduct, the correct appointment procedures and being open about what the council should be doing eg meeting at least 4 times a year, annually electing a chairman, meeting the quorum etc. How to carry out risk assessments.
