In this session we explore what we mean by young people, what issues matter to them, how to effectively reach and engage with them both online and offline, and how to build partnerships with youth-focused organisations.

At the end of this session you will be aware of the powers available to councils to make a difference and differentiate between the council's capabilities (what it can do) and its duties (what it must do) and responsibilities (what it should do); identify the policies that are necessary and those that will be useful;  be clear on who can make decisions and when and ensure the procedure for decision-making is transparent and justifiable; schemes of delegation including for committees, sub-committees, working parties. There will be reference to s137 and GPoC

In this session we explore how to create a social media strategy, how to get the most out of Facebook in particular, and how to make use of time-saving tools and techniques save councils time and effort.

This introductory session walks councils through the theory and core principles of GDPR and related data protection legislation, and we explain what policies, practices and processes councils need to have in place.
