Clerking 1-2-3 Session 1 The Essentials
Parish and town clerks should be, “equipped with the necessary skills to thrive within their role and best support their council and community” (SLCC:2020). As a new clerks you are never alone. As member officers of WALC/CALC you can access this essential training and knowledge by attending the Clerks 1, 2 and 3 training courses. Aimed at an introduction to parish and town councils and your role within the council, giving you the confidence to guide your council and carry out your duties lawfully.
This session essential for all new clerks will give an introduction to the amazing support network available to you as Clerks. Giving a background to our sector and demystifying the confusion as to who does what in local government. Explaining the important role of the Clerk, tools you require to carry out the job competently and lawfully and the different types of council meetings. Ending with how to write precise factual minutes.
