CiLCA Seminars

We are delighted to announce and support further training from

Gill Lungley MILCM

Gill is now undertaking a programme of CiLCA seminars which will be open to all clerks who wish to undertake this training and obtain the qualification and also for anyone who would like to receive additional training to fulfil their professional responsibilities and duties.

The first of ten monthly sessions will be held

At Tenbury Town Council Offices at the Pump Rooms in the centre of Tenbury Wells

On Friday 23rd March 2018

From 10am to 1pm.

Cost for each session is £20.

Basic training 5 P’s Purpose, People, Place, Planning and Powers:

The 5 P’s

This session will:-

. Define the parish council’s Purpose

. Identify the People involved and their different roles within the council

. Put parish councils into geographical Place and local government context

. Acknowledge the Planning process and how parish councils fit into it

. Define the parish councils’ legal framework and their Powers

Management, meetings, money:

The 3 M’s

This suite of training ideal for new councillors, clerks or anyone wanting an update

.Explore how the council is Managed and who makes decisions

.Identify different types of Meeting and meeting procedure

.Look at Money, financial control, budgeting and the audit process

Training for councillors who may be considering taking the chair at council meetings; also useful as a refresher for experienced chairmen.  Will cover appropriate administration of meetings, good employment practice and effective financial management.

Standards and Code of Conduct

Training for all councillors; the session will identify the Principles of Public Life, review the requirements of the Localism Act 2011,

ch’s 6/7 (Code of Conduct, Interests, Disclosure, Penalties), briefly look at current Transparency Codes and the Local Council Awards Scheme

All councils are expected to conform to the requirements of the Information Commissioner’s Office.  We shall establish the type of information that is required and in what format.
